Fernando Alonso rejoins Renault

Alonso had a tough year with Mclaren last season as he was less favoured for his team mate Hamilton. Hence he finally decided to leave Mclaren only to join his previous team Renault. It is speculated that Alonso will be the highest paid driver in Formula One. His place at Mclaren will be replaced by Kovalienan. Nelson Piquet Jr, has been promoted to the race team as Alonso's team mate. Alonso is believed to have negotiated number one status with Renault.

Didier Drogba receives knee operation

Chelsea's veteran striker Didier Drogba has undergone knee surgery recently and could well miss the African Cup of Nations. Drogba is the notable striker of Ivory Coast and the entire team depends on him. The 29-year-old Ivory Coast captain suffered a recurrence of his injury in training on Friday and had surgery on Saturday. It is not clear how long the surgery will put Drogba out of action but he is due to play in the Cup of Nations.
